WHY FREE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL IS NOT SO FREE

In its present form

Author: ABDUL-RAFIQUE SHAIBU

EDUCATION The education of the Ghanaian child is undoubtedly the most sensitive commodity of our country now. Compare education from the year 1996 through to the year 2016 and the present, are you proud of our stagnation? What is free senior high school?

Free senior school in its present form is waste, a disaster and like a heap of saw dust with fire underneath. A complete time bomb. The future leaders this present educational system is creating is disaster. Everybody is afraid to talk about it but we must face it.

One of the NPPs agenda is to cripple the minds of our children, infest them with stagnation and empower their children to rule them in the near future, a FACT. Sit and talk about free SHS.

I say this with resentment and without hesitation, the NPP among other strategies, wants to make sure our future generations are educated below minimum standard. That way they get their children the best education to come few years later to dictate to them and rule them in tyranny like he is doing today.

Free senior high school in a strategic, limited to the poor and needy as well deprived communities is completely necessary. But in the form it has been rolled out we are crippling our future. Let’s as a matter of urgency resist this free nonsense, it’s a time bomb. I was frustrated out of my senior high school by the head teacher then because I couldn’t pay 98 Ghana cedis in school before I got registered to sit for WASSCE in 2011.

There was no one to pay it for me. Undoubtedly this policy would have been very helpful if it was rolled out back then but not in the injurious form it is now. It must be implemented by instituting a system to identify the needy students across the country and the deprived communities. This way, those who can afford be made to sponsor their children and wards through school. And the system should be open for new enrollment if at the middle some begin to face challenges as a result of demise of their parent(s) or care-takers, or their sponsor(s) lose his/her job and cannot cater for the educational expenses. We can’t fool ourselves with the ‘EQUAL ASSESS’ Nana Akufo Addo and the NPP is fooling us with.

This is my opinion and few years from now we will be limping from this wound we are cowardly hiding today. I urge us all to be bold and be realistic, free senior high in its present form has collapsed our educational system completely. And I repeat that it is a strategy to infect our future leaders with backwardness and stagnation so that they can empower theirs to lead them. Nana Addo wants to lead us today and his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will lead ours. We have been fooled 2016, we can’t remain fooled all the time.

A word to the wise… Your child could be the next president and the present educational system won’t guarantee that. # 2. Vote Nana out to save our educational system. #mpowerghana #rescuemission #iTrustJM

The policy was implemented without regards to standards and stakeholder engagement. It products might end up to be liability to this country. Watch out!. It might be free now but not in the future.

Nana Adfo and his sakawa family do not really care about the future of this country's youth. I mean the man tried to own our mineral royalties for 15 years.
